Line Dancin' in Michigan

History

I am often asked where the name Blackberry Creek originated.  A very small community, Blackberry Creek, is my hometown.  It is located in Pike County, Kentucky.  It borders the states of Virginia and West Virginia and it is recognized for its history in the Hatfield and McCoy Feud. 

For those of you interested in genealogy - I am a granddaughter of Phillip McCoy and Ella Jane nee Smith McCoy. Yes I'm a "Real McCoy" and a "Coal Miners' Daughter".  My early years were spent surrounded by Country / Bluegrass music and free style clogging. 

History

In the late 1980's, I began taking Line Dance classes from local school  enrichment programs. I absolutely loved it.... and was very good at it.

In  1990 I was offered the opportunity to teach a class for beginners.  Needless to say, that was the beginning of my teaching career, and  I still love teaching today as  much as  the first day.

Certification

Helen Azelio, CEO , has been a member of the National Teachers Association for Country Western Dance since 1990, and at present time the National Teachers Association State Director for Michigan.
